I personally prefer to affiliate only for products I think are useful, but I understand if others want to take the opportunity to hustle. If you're sharing affiliate links in your newsletter, you should be upfront about them.
Tip: If you have your own domain, you can use short.io to shorten links for free. I wouldn't recommend bit.ly as a link shortener as many Email Service Providers flag it as spam.
